The California State Superior Court today ruled that the 9000 Registered Nurses who work in the UC system are barred from carrying out their planned one-day strike tomorrow. The California Nurses' Association will instead carry out informational pickets at the six medical centers statewide. Although the strike has been delayed for the present, UC is enjoined from retaliating against union activity, according to Manny Punzalan.

Manny is an oncology nurse at UCLA, who represents 2500 fellow nurses. He talks about the ongoing struggle to establish good patient care and labor practices at UC.

the superior court acted upon a complaint filed by Public Employees Relations Board, a state board with a majority of people appointed by Schwarzenegger

just his petty way of causing problems for the nurses

but, we will get even in November

note to UC: you aren't helping yourselves getting into bed with Schwarzenegger against the nurses

At the San Francisco General Hospital campus--in the last 4 months, 3 UC unions have been on strike (not including tomorrows nursing action). The top brass at UC are true shitholes. They give themselves huge bonuses/perks while attempting to give the rank and file nothing.
