A Long View of Trumpistan's Prospects

The selection of Trump to be the next White House Occupier(WHO)is not an accident. It comes at a critical juncture of world history that sees the confluence of three interrelated trends of great consequence: A)the passage of Peak Capitalism, B)the refusal of the Evil Empire to peacefully transition to a multi-polar world, and C)dramatic climate change with unprecedented rapidity.

In the first place, the historical decline of Capitalist triumphalism--after nearly 5 centuries of growth with many material achievements(at a tremendous human cost, especially on people of color across 3 continents)--is clearly visible. The Great "Recession" of 2008 was a NeoLiberal euphemism that hid the greatest financial meltdown in recorded history that had the entire global economy on the verge of collapse, except for an equally-unparalleled central banks' multi-Trillion dollar bailout of the very same culpable Wall Street banksters that precipitated the Ponzi-scheme Great Calamity in the first place! And 8 years after the official "Recovery," the overall globalized Capitalist economy is still hobbling along to Nowhere, although thru-the-roof stock market "exuberance," coupled with the outrageous upward concentration of wealth to the top 1/10 of 1% are now the hallmarks of a new Supersized "robber baron" era. On the other hand, the empowered--though still much impoverished--mass movements of Latin America represent the pioneers of an embryonic and decentralized response to the impending and precipitous breakdown of Private Capital's current hegemony...

The second notable historical trend is the rise of multi-polarity in world affairs. Only 2-1/2 decades ago, in the immediate aftermath of the collapse of then Soviet Union, the US Imperial juggernaut arrogantly proclaimed itself the world's "Sole Superpower." But the "American Century" quickly became entangled and then stalemated by its over-inflated lust for "regime change" appetite, first in Afghanistan, then Iraq, followed by Libya and Syria(Imperial warlords never seemed to learn cautionary tales from these "Graveyards of Empires"!) Yet, despite spending trillions of dollars in these "Mothers of 'Operations Enduring Fiascos.'" the Wall Street-Pentagon ruling cabal still stubbornly refuse to peacefully transition to the reality of the "Pacific Century" and the multi-polar world community. Hence the Yanks' trillion-dollar upgrade on nuclear weapons is now coupled with a shrill internecine debate between the born-again Cold Warhawks madly escalating tensions with Russia, and the racist anti-China gang of Trump's handpicked generals and protectionist advisors who are eager to even militarily constrain the rise of China's influence in the Pacific Rim and beyond. Such desperation moves to save the crumbling Imperial hegemony are bound to provoke stringent countermeasures from the targeted Russian Bear and the Chinese Dragon, who are now pushed into a security coalition perhaps even stronger than during the "Socialist Camp" heydays of the 1950s...

Finally, the ostrich-like denial of Climate Change in the Chump's HQ is manifesting itself in a revanchist revival of coal mining and massive oil drilling via toxic fracking operations. Such short-sighted and environmentally-destructive policies will only speed up the Disaster Train toward resource depletion and irreversible Planetary damage...

Despite these ominous developments in the new Trumpistan, is there any glimmer of collective hope? Much will depend on the barely-emerging localized--but globally-inspired Solidarity--movements that need to coalesce around anti-Imperial militarization campaigns, a well as a diversified global development of more Egalitarian, Sustainable, Collaborative and Transparent alternative models than the current Clunkered Capitalist Calamity. As the Chinese definition of "crisis" is divided into its components of "danger" and "opportunity," which way will the Planetary 99% take? Stay tuned for volatile and exciting times ahead...
