The arts community is making a clear statement in opposition to the war and fascism of Donald Trump and his cabinet with a school walkout at CalArts in Southern California and a New York Gallery & Non-Profits Art Strike on January 20, 2017, inauguration day.

Friday

“Los Angeles Trump Inauguration #Calexit Independence Rally”

10 a.m.-6 p.m., Los Angeles City Hall, 200 North Spring Street, Los Angeles

This rally was organized by the Yes California #Calexit campaign. The group proposes the state of California seek independence from the United States.

About 160 have said via Facebook they will attend.

“United Against Hate Inauguration March”

11 a.m.-6 p.m., LA Live, Olympic Boulevard and Figueroa Street, Los Angeles

More than 15,000 people have said via Facebook that they will attend.

The Friday march includes specific demands of Trump and his administration against mass deportations and discrimination based on race, religion, gender and sexual orientation.

The march is set to begin at LA Live, head east on Olympic then north on Broadway, east on First Street, then north on Spring Street to Los Angeles City Hall. Streets along the route will be closed to vehicle traffic.

“Protest Trump’s Inauguration! United Front Against Fascism!”

Noon-6 p.m., Los Angeles City Hall, 200 North Spring Street, Los Angeles

Organized by Roofers Union Local 36, this goal of this rally is to advocate for the abolishment of the Electoral College. Close to 200 people have said via Facebook they will attend.

Residents in the Boyle Heights neighborhood in east Los Angeles will meet in Mariachi Plaza at 11 a.m. before marching to City Hall to join up with the United Against Hate Inauguration March.

“UCLA Walkout on Trump Inauguration”

Noon-3 p.m., Dickson Plaza, UCLA
Students at UCLA have planned a walkout to protest the inauguration in solidarity with students doing the same across the country. About 1,100 people have said via Facebook they will attend this walkout event.

Saturday

Local marches are set to be held concurrently with Saturday’s Women’s March on Washington. Here is a list of the locations and start times for the Southern California sister marches.

Nearly 70,000 people have said via Facebook they will attend the Los Angeles march.

• Palm Springs: Noon, Frances Stevens Park, North Palm Canyon and Alejo Road

• Palmdale: 9 a.m.-noon, Antelope Valley Mall

• Pasadena: 8 a.m., Pasadena City Hall, 100 North Garfield Avenue

• Perris: Noon, Perris City Hall, 101 North D Street

• Redondo Beach: 10 a.m.-noon, Harbor Drive and Portafino Drive

• Riverside: 10 a.m. Riverside Main Street Pedestrian Mall, 3712 Mission Inn Avenue

• San Clemente: 9 a.m.-11 a.m., San Clemente Community Center, 100 North Calle Serville
