by Khubaka, Michael Harris
This special 50th Anniversary of Kwanzaa, we look back and honor the earliest pioneers of African ancestry in Stockton, California. Sankofa, teaches us to look back to plan the way forward, planting new seeds for the coming "First Fruits of the Harvest"

Through experiential learning, children will learn about early pioneers in Stockton, CA, part of the early California Pan African Diaspora that have genetic origins from the “Heart of Africa.”

The African Baptist Church, near the Stockton Waterfront, helped assure the top educational institution in Gold Rush California in Stockton connecting the Ancient Anu people who lived at the foot of the Mountains of the Moon, Rwenzori Mountain Range in the land today known as Congo, Uganda and Rwanda.

The Anu shared that in the beginning, our (Supreme Being) was known upon Baba Tiba.

Anu people are descendent of an ancient agrarian people who gathered fruits, nuts and plants. When the Anu could not find fruit, nuts, or plants to eat, they hunted the creatures of the land for meat.

Ancient Anu teachers listened to the sounds of the forests and learned to speak and sing from the creatures of the air. Today, we work, study and pray to embrace the many faith based paths that lead us home remembering ancient notions of our "California Grown, First Fruits of the Harvest.”
