Candidates for Santa Cruz City Council gathered for the third forum at the SEIU Hall in Santa Cruz on Wednesday evening the 24th of August.
Candidates for Santa Cruz City Council gathered for the third forum at the SEIU Hall in Santa Cruz on Wednesday evening the 24th of Augest. The union will be voting to endorse two or more canditates for the November 8, 2016 Ballot.
I was there in support of Drew Glover, though I, and everyone else, was interested in what everyone had to say!

They look like earnest folks except for Cynthia Mathews, who smiles like the Cheshire cat.
Nice photos.
The real question is whether any of them said anything credible and specific about particular changes they intend to organize for, bullhorn for, and vote for--whether they're elected or not.
Perhaps supporters or the candidates can specify direct action campaigns in which any of these folks took a leading role?
I'm concerned about City Council accessibility and transparency, an end to the criminalization of the poor, rent control, profiteer punishment, and police abuse myself.
Are any of these candidates? And if so, what SPECIFICALLY do they propose?
Warming a chair at City Council if you're not willing to challenge the entrenched staff and organize outside of the controlled chambers is pretty useless--as the tenure of Councilmember Posner (and Krohn) strongly showed.
