Marriott San Jose Hotel Workers Picket during Lunch Hour

by R. Robertson
Marriott San Jose employees came out of the hotel to join the picket line and march in front of their employer on Friday February 27. After two months of refusing to re-enter negotations, the Marriott has finally agreed to a March 3 meeting at the table with the union. The hotel workers are members of UNITE HERE local 19.

Businessmen with stiff expressions scooted past the line of marchers. Yet hotel workers, including housekeepers and maintenance workers, toil long hard hours to create the very comfort that visitors to San Jose enjoy!

Hotel workers need support to gain improved working conditions, affordable healthcare and a living wage.

Currently going into the 8th month of negotiations, union leaders representing hotel workers have seen a lot of stalling on the part of Marriott. It's time the member hotel of Marriott's giant chain did the right thing, and you can help. For more information call (408) 321-9019 ext. 304.
