Oklahoma and Bayview were both bombarded - will history tell the truth?

by Francisco Da Costa
June 1, 1921 is a day that will be remembered when "Black Wall Street" was bombarded. May 30, 2008 in San Francisco there was another type of bombing - over 138,900 structures per cubic meter - blasted innocent children and elders - mostly of color. If we do not record such events - history will talk of other things but not important events. When mundane events are reported - they over shadow - that what MUST be told.
Ask any Black that has some sense of history of Oklahoma - and she or he will tell you about - "Black Wall Street".

A time in the early 1920s when Blacks made it and had it all.

Recently, I was visiting my Shoeshine Friend - Mr Jackson in San Francisco by Mason Street and Market Street in San Francisco. As we spoke about politics - he revealed to me the day - June 1, 1921 - when Oklahoma was bombed from the air and burned to the ground.

He spoke of others events that I will report - when the time is ripe and with better - authority.

I have some reports of this horrific crime - that history has been slow to record. But, it has been recorded and in recent years - there are better documents to reveal and produce to those that are - truly racist - and feel and think that all is well in this Native American land.

In a period spanning fewer than 12 hours, a once thriving 36- block business district in northern Tulsa, Oklahoma lay smoldering. 21 churches and more than 21 restaurants with two movie houses were no more.

The area comprised of more than 600 businesses and a population of over 15,000 Blacks.

Over one 1500 homes were burned - by bombs that fell from the sky - during peace time in this the United States of America - because of jealousy.

Here in the Bayview please do not take our reporting of the evil meted out by the Pacific Heights Mafia - lightly.

In proportion that we are suffering - there will be restitution - and when that day comes there will be wailing and crying - but it will be too late.
