Abuses in and around Hunters Point Naval Shipyard - Parcel B and Parcel A - go figure!
Recently, there was a Notice Of Violation (NOV) on Parcel A - read this article for details. On Parcel B - that is contaminated the United States Navy wants to cap the whole area - and issue a Mitigation Plan that favors less then more of a through - clean up. So, now - even the U.S. Navy has fallen in line and is following the orders of very corrupt politicians - one being Senator Diane Feinstein. We had a exceedance of over 138,000 structures per cubic meter of Asbestos - on May 30, 2008 but the NOV was released - just a few day ago. Read more .......
Right now - the hot topic is Parcel B on Hunters Point Naval Shipyard.
On Parcel B are found the most toxic contaminants but the United States Navy - wants to cap the land - save some money - but to hell with what happens to human and other life in the short term and long term.
San Francisco has the Precautionary Principle that mandates that we must stop work and investigate if any life human or non-human is adversely impacted.
We all know this but this City and County of San Francisco - and especially Mayor Gavin Newsom - wants to cap the land and build over 2500 homes on some 56 acres plus.
Close up on Parcel A - Lennar want to build 1600 homes but has no money.
Recently, the Mayor appeared before the SF Planning Commissioners - with some guide lines that favor putting projects and permits - on fast track. I happened to be there and witnessed what Mayor Gavin Newsom had to say.
The only area where thousands of homes are in the pipe-line - is the Bayview Hunters Point and the surround area - and that is the place Mayor Gavin Newsom and his political cronies want to focus. It is all about greed and money.
Parcel B has a large tract of land prone to Methane Gas - but the City of San Francisco does not care about this serious and dangerous situation. Never mind that there is a similar situation of Parcel E.
On Parcel B there is a large area that is contaminated with Mercury. Go figure.
If we have a Big Earthquake - which is coming - Methane Gas will be released in very large amounts and no fire-fighting equipment can deal with such a situation.
Now, add mercury, lead, PCBs, cesium, and other radiological elements to the cesspool and you have a situation that is mind-bogging and one that required very serious - attention and quick action.
We must have an emergency plan for such a situation but we do not have one. The same happened in the year 2000 on Parcel E. That raging fire burned under-ground for months. No, precise report was released and it took the SF Health Department months - to come to the community and address the adverse situation.
Many suffered and many died. The City and County of San Francisco has yet to acknowledge this fact and to apologize. The City of San Francisco claims it cares for San Franciscans - but that is not the truth.
Foremost in the mind of any authority governing a decent City or County is Health and Safety.
In the case of San Francisco the SF Health Department - with Doctors Rajiv Bhatia and Mitch Katz - these two scum bags - could not care less.
The United States Navy has an obligation to clean up the whole Hunters Point Naval Shipyard to Residential Standards. It says that it has this obligation - but does not say exactly what high Standards the United States Navy - is bound to.
Right now the United States Navy is listening to the corrupt politicians.
The advice given to the United States Navy - is one that favors greed and sub-standard operations. Well, if the United States Navy goes this path - it will NOT be the first time - it has fallen prey to dirty, stinking - politics and politicians.
In the year 2000 - eighty seven percent of San Franciscans voted for Proposition P and demanded that the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard be cleaned to Residential Standards. This has not happened. Corrupt forces are circumventing Proposition P and it will come to bite them in the butt.
On Parcel A on May 30, 2000 there was an exceedance of over 138,000 structures per cubic meter. The cap is 16,000 structures per cubic meter. Even one single Asbestos particle or Structure is harmful to the human body.
However, the San Francisco Health Department did not warn the constituents living near by. The authorities that be including the Mayor of San Francisco, Gavin Newsom did not release the exceedance report - and the Notice of Violation until just a few days ago. Weeks after the exceedance with no due Notice of Violation on time and law bound.
Had the Notice of Violation been released say June 1, or June 2 - it would have impacted the June 3, 200 elections.
Some of you readers remember Proposition F that stood against Lennar who controls parcel A and the demand of the the Bayview Hunters Point constituents - mandating fifty percent Affordable Housing.
Well, Lennar Corporation, the SF Health Department, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, the Mayor of San Francisco, Gavin Newsom, the Director of SF Economic Development and WorkForce, and the Director of SF Redevelopment Agency and the SFRA Commissioners - must demand an investigation and explain to the people this - blatant, injustice.
In the meantime our children are slowly dying exposed to the worst contaminants.
In the meantime our Elders are dying exposed to the worst possible toxins - much of it radiological in nature.
Who will come to the rescue of the constituents who keep fighting - while the authorities that be keep deceiving the constituents.
We, the suffering constituents know we have God on our side.
We see Lennar's Stocks and Shares going down the drain. Lennar is declaring bankruptcy every where - Southern California with LandSource, Mare Island, Vallejo, California, Richmond, California - and more.
Well, no one can do harm to innocent children and our Elders - and not be expected to be sought out for retribution and restitution. You can run and hide - but one day - all of you will be - exposed.
