indynewswire 5.30.08: the friendly fire collective on chevron's global exploitation
An interview with david from the friendly fire collective on the protests outside the annual shareholders' meeting at Chevron's San Ramon headquarters: 32 min. 38 sec.
Listen now:
We talked about Chevron's role in human rights abuses and environmental destruction--all in the name of profit--all over the world, in particular Nigeria, Ecuador, Burma, Iraq, and of course right here in the Bay in Richmond.
Chevron's response has been to attack critics, play victim, and unapologetically offer profit as a legit motive for propping up military regimes, killing dissidents, leaving the environment a toxic ruin, and pushing the Iraq war in order to refine Iraqi oil here in California.
The "Clean Up Chevron" action featured more than a hundred of protesters in hazard wear sporting brooms at the entrance to the meeting where Chevron's investors would hear from delegations representing Ecuador and Nigeria, among others.
The indynewswire is broadcast live every friday morning from 10 am - 12 noon on freak radio santa cruz 101.1 FM
