"California Grown" Racism ~ Stolen Legacy of Leidesdorff Ranch Regional Park

by khubaka, michael harris (blackagriculture [at] yahoo.com)
Several leading political figures in 2008 Sacramento County have demonstrated a foul racist belief showcased by 1848 California legislative action. The African Jewish Founding Father of California continues to endure a "stolen legacy" and the impact is visited upon the current generation of school age children whom Honorable William Alexander Leidesdorff, Jr. sought to educate. We need a change, real solutions to real problems based upon authentic historic preservation and environmental sustainability looking toward a creating a more perfect union.

“Stolen Legacy ~ Proposed Leidesdorff Ranch Regional Park”
by Khubaka, Michael Harris

Beginning in 2004, Leidesdorff Day has been showcased throughout Northern California and featured in the City of San Francisco. We now move to a nationwide format and seek to bring a broader understanding of the contributions of men and women of African ancestry to the Gold Rush California.

Our goal is to identify one million people worldwide to join our “Ambassador’s Club” and volunteer to help us restore Leidesdorff Ranch, established in 1844, Mexican California.

William Alexander Leidesdorff Jr. (1810 – 1848) was an African American pioneer of African and Danish ancestry. He was a successful maritime captain and merchant trading throughout our Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Caribbean Sea and Sea of Cortez during the ‘Age of Sail.’

Leidesdorff was instrumental in California becoming our 31st State, serving as U.S. Vice Consul in Mexican California, first African American Diplomat in U.S. History, in 1845.

Leidesdorff served as President of the first Public School Board in California History and he help build and opened the first public school in California, Portsmouth Square, San Francisco.

It is our goal to share his legacy in each and every public institution of education in the State of California and beyond.

Leidesdorff owned the finest home garden in early San Francisco and operated a 35,000 acre ranch in Sacramento County. Today, primary source documentation of Leidesdorff Ranch remains veiled in the belief in systemic institutional racism of the 1858 California law.

Without question, Leidesdorff Ranch, a 35,000 acre agribusiness operation, was a catalyst for California’s Agricultural Export Industry utilizing the early Port of San Francisco and sailing the only steam vessel in California to showcase modern technology to bring products to world markets, prior to the Gold Rush of 1849.

Michael Harris, Founder and President, Leidesdorff Project Ambassadors Club, will lead the global promotion of our 2008 campaign initiative “Stolen Legacy ~ Proposed Leidesdorff Ranch Regional Park”

Our Leidesdorff Project will be featured in the cities of New York, NY, Baltimore, MD, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, CA, San Francisco, CA, Sacramento, CA, San Diego, CA, Atlanta, GA, Miami, FL, Raleigh, NC, Norfolk, VI, New Orleans, LA, St. Croix, VI, Sitka, AK, Boston, MA, Honolulu, HI, Houston, TX, Philadelphia, PA, Seattle, WA, and the international cities of Moscow, Mexico City, Havana, Panama City, and Copenhagen.

Join us, organize with us and recruit others to join our campaign of to showcase a National Bicentennial Commission, William Alexander Leidesdorff, Jr. (1810-2010)
