Listen now:
Congressman Mike Thompson of California's North Coast called for a congressional investigation in Vice President Dick Cheney's role in the 2002 salmon die-off at the Klamath River, after news surfaced that Cheney urged the manipulation of science to release more water in the Klamath for farmers in Oregon-in order to gain thier Republican vote. The move caused a severe salmon die off of an estimated 70,000 salmon in 2002 and nearly broke the North Coast's fishing industry. Congress held a hearing on the matter, ultimately, a scientist disputed Cheney's large role in the matter. This is Thompson's response.
