On December 9, 2006 nearly 1,000 bay area trade unionists marched and rallied at Pier 33 in San Francisco's Embarcadero to protest the effort by the Federal government/Park Service and Terry MacCrae owner of Alcatraz Tours to bust the Inland Boatman's Union IBU/ILWU and the Masters, Mates and Pilots Union. The Bush administration awarded their pal MacCrae a ten year contract to run the most popular federal park tour in the country and he has flagrantly discriminated against the union members who had done the Alcatraz run for more than 20 years. On the same day, ILWU Local 10 also had a stop work meeting and shut down all maritime shipping in the bay area in solidarity with their brothers and sisters in the IBU-ILWU.
