SF DEMOCRATS WARMLY WELCOME SCHWARZENEGGER TO
Why this is not the party to rescue our nation from the destruction being spearheaded by the Fascist Republicans
Yesterday, while his minions were preparing to kill a 76 year old man, San Francisco Democrat’s warmly welcomed Arnold Schwarzenegger to the Martin Luther King,Jr. Breakfast. This governor, who has none of the humanitarian traits of MLK and was willing to let a reformed Tookie Williams die after almost twenty-five years on death row, got a red carpet welcome. The SF Chronicle described it: “But instead of handing him his head, as expected, most of the A-list crowd of Democrats, community and labor leaders -- including many who led bitter opposition to the governor's special election -- gave him a warm and welcoming hand. “
Apparently, the warm introduction given by Former San Francisco Mayor and top Democratic Politico Willie Brown helped soothe the crowd. Brown called Schwarzenegger “his friend.” With Democractic politicians who seem more concerned about the color of their Brioni suits or if they can get a movie walk on from one of their Hollywood celebrity friends, the people must reevaluate their relationship to the Democrats aka Republicrats. Did Brown ever speak to “his friend” about Tookie Williams or that it is wrong to kill a sick, incapacitated man? Maybe he was just following Bill Clinton’s example of going to Arkansas during the primary campaign to preside over the execution of a brain damaged black man.
There is a class of people that has made a career out of politics for their own gain. Many are Democrats. They trade on influence. The commonwealth is actually their pasture for self-enrichment. Remember Washington insider Robert Strauss’s $8 million dollar payoff from the Japanese? Who do these politicians represent because they surely aren’t representing American interests? Basically our government is a revolving door for self interested career enrichers who live off of the public trough.
American Democracy is sick not just because of the Republicans but because of the complicit Democrats. And because the people in America remain ignorant and prefer to live in a dream world of reality tv, professional sports and other pastimes designed to dumb down the public. What do the Democrats really represent anyway? One has to wonder why the MLK breakfast organizers would invite a man who used MLK,Jr. day to preside over the preparations for the execution of a man. –Something Martin Luther King Jr. would abhor. yes, MLK might have sat down with Schwarzenegger but do any of you believe that he wouldn’t have taken Schwarzenegger to task on many things but especially executions. Arnold Schwarzenegger is a HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIOR. So is Lockyer. It is time for progressives to totally call the bluff that is the Democratic Party.

The anti-death penalty parties are the socialist Peace & Freedom Party and the Green Party. You have to vote for anti-death penalty candidates if you want to end the death penalty. The death penalty is a political football, a means of winning elections, for the Democrats & Republicans. You also have to register to vote and actually vote. In the last high voter turnout election, November 2004, 11 million out of 27 million adults in Califorina voted. That means most of the workingclass, those who sell their labor for less than $70,000 a year, and usually much less, did not vote and never vote. It is those who make less than $30,000 a year who are the most likely to be threatened with prison and the death penalty, both of which should be abolished. We do not want life without the possibility of parole; we want the abolition of prisons and the death penalty and the promotion of rehabilitation.
These MLK Day rallies are a complete waste of time. You are much better off spending your time registering people to vote in the Peace & Freedom or Green Party so we can have a strong anti-death penalty voting bloc.
Anyone who is registered Democrat and claims to be anti-death penalty is hypocritcal at best. If you keep voting for Feinstein, Boxer, pro-death penalty governors and presidents, then you are voting for the death penalty. All of these Democrats say they are for the death penalty and they mean it. It does not help to whine at the time of an execution if you voted for these fascist murderers. You have to be pro-active and vote for anti-death penalty candidates, which all Peace & Freedom and Green Party candidates are, if you want to end the death penalty.
