"you call him right now (the president) and you call the governer, and tell them to delegate the powers that they have to the Mayor of New Orleans (himself) and we'll get this dammed thing fixed.",
"It's Politics man and their playing games and their spinning, there out there spinning for the cameras."

"i keep hearing that its coming (massive help). this is coming and that is coming. my answer to that today is BS,
where is the beef? Cuz there is no beef in this city.
There is no beef anywhere in South East Louisiana,
and these Goddammed shifts that are 'coming'...

The mayor lashed out at the government, saying: "I have no idea what they're doing, but I will tell you this: God is looking down on all this and if they're not doing everything in their power to save people, they are going to pay the price because every day that we delay, people are dying and they're dying by the hundreds."

Mr. Mayor,

You being in a position of authority, needs to stop blaming President Bush for Mother Nature, if people could not leave the city, what makes you think it was so easy for help to get there. If this could have been avoided, as you said, well why didnt you get of your ass and do something prior to this.
Comments that this had to do with race or poverty, is ridiculous, use your head you seem like an intelligent man, when it comes to tragedy devastating as this most people dont care about race or income, it seems that the only people who have a problem with race is the people of the race
by Re:
Nagin begged for help and went out on a limb with strong statements against Bush. RIght after he made the results more aid came in. You can try to blame him for begging for help but it worked and probably saved at least a few lives by getting the media attention to put pressure on Bush to get aid in faster. Nagin may have been able to do a little more before the storm but his begging for help was probably the best thing anyone did to help the victims of the storm since the covarge was really needed at the time since people falsely assumed that no pressure was needed to get FEMA to deal with disaster relief.
