Milpitas ban on dispensaries defeated!!
Good news in Milipitas from the Area420 MMJ patients' group
Good news in Milipitas from the Area420 MMJ patients' group:
Some of us from area420 attended the Milpitas city council meeting last night..
they were voting on a moratorium (ban) and after we each got up and spoke about
why dispensing collectives are needed in santa clara county.. the council
couldn't get enough votes to pass it!! one council member wasn't at the meeting..
and another said she can't vote for a ban.. when the mayor realized he couldn't
get enough votes, he asked the city attorney if they could vote again when the
missing member returned.. and he said NO because it was an urgency ordinance! so
it was defeated! They will be trying for a general ordinance sometime in the
future, and we will be there to work with them.. the council member who did not
vote for it, Althea Polanski, said she doesn't understand why after almost 10 yrs
of prop215, why we suddenly need moratoriums.. she also compared our medicine to
penicillin and said it's unfair for patients to have to travel outside the county
to obtain medicine.. she is VERY
interested in working with us....
Also.. this was kind of disconcerting.. the mayor says someone
interested in opening a dispensary called him and left a nasty
message "using the F-word several times" (his words) and said "i was scared" ??!!?!
we were shocked to hear this. who would do this??
CCG??? this is terrible. we assured him that whoever left the message DID NOT
represent our community.
sincerely,
