Human Rights for Immigrants
An All-day, Statewide Conference in New Jersey
Saturday, February 19, 2005
Immediately Followed by NJIPN’s Annual General Membership Meeting

Rutgers University Labor Education Center
50 Labor Center Way, New Brunswick, NJ 08901

New Jersey Immigration Policy Network, American Friends Service Committee, the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey and the International Institute of New Jersey take the initiative to hold an all-day conference on Human Rights for Immigrants.

Conference Topics Include:
Immigrants and law enforcement
In-state tuition and DREAM Act
Day laborers’ problems and workers’ rights
Access to health care and other services

We need your support, endorsement and active participation.

Talk of immigration reform is in the air, yet concrete proposals that would truly address the importance of human rights for all have not been introduced. The recent passage of an intelligence reform bill that provides for increased enforcement and detention space reveals the disconnect between the rhetoric about immigration reform and the direction in which present policies are moving.

With the fifth largest immigration population in country, New Jersey’s community of immigrants and immigrant rights advocates must come together to tackle these issues through a human rights framework. A strong, unified voice, a good turnout, and well-thought-out plans of action will make the conference a meaningful one.

Conference from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M.
Registration from 9-10 A.M.
Registration: $25 per person (suggested contribution)
(Lunch and refreshment included)

Speakers Include
Josh Bernstein, Senior Policy Analyst, National Immigration Law Center
Margie McHugh, Executive Director, New York Immigration Coalition
