StopSinclair.org to deliver a 150,000-member petition at FEC DC HQ

Wants FEC to Halt Sinclair's $9,900,000 Illegal In-Kind Contribution to Bush campaign

At 12:00 pm on Thursday, a crowd will gather at the FEC headquarters, 99 E Street in
Washington D.C., and drop off the names of 150,000 petitioners who reject Sinclair's
paid political advertisement, labeled news by Bush supporters, as a nasty anti-Kerry
October Surprise.

In two days, Stop Sinclair raised over $100,000 for full-page print advertisements
and television spots that will run in the battle ground states of Ohio and Nevada
where some of Sinclair's 65 television stations are located. The entire petition can
be read online at http://www.stopsinclair.org and the group has set up a conference
call for Wednesday at 1:00 pm where journalists can learn more about
StopSinclair.org and hear from Todd Gitlin, a Columbia University professor of
journalism and sociology. The call-in number is 1-800-416-4956 Passcode 24285884#.

"Almost 10 million dollars is the amount of money Sinclair has in effect given as a
in-kind donation to the Bush Cheney Campaign. Sinclair plans to air a program they
didn't pay for, that friends of Bush produced out of their own pocket and run it
without commercials just days before the election. It would cost the Bush campaign
at least $9,900,000 to air this material on all of Sinclair's stations. To top it
all of they call this anti-Kerry slander news," said Arkadi Gerney, the Director of
Stop Sinclair.

StopSinclair.org, leads both the online and grassroots charge against Sinclair
Broadcast Group. They have joined forces with America Coming Together and democratic
blogs to protest Sinclair's actions. On Oct. 15th the group protested at the
headquarters of Sinclair Broadcast Group in Hunt Valley Maryland. People of all ages
gathered peacefully on the sidewalk outside the Maryland office and held up Stop
Sinclair signs with the figure, $9,900,000.

Stop Sinclair is a campaign of the Running For Change Political Action Committee, a
grassroots effort compromised of the Run Against Bush and Concerts For Change
campaigns. The PAC has raised over $500,000 for Kerry election efforts and over
14,500 people have been to a Concert for Change and more than 13,000 runners have
joined the Run Against Bush campaign.
