No matter how unpopular, tell the American people who is really going to fight the war. Young people will not let the issue of the draft or the facts that young people are dying everyday for a war they did not choose to fight. Don't let Congress fool you into thinking millions of kids are signing up to support this war.
"Congress brought up reinstating the draft legislation this week with only a few short days of session left to play politics and try and silence our voice about who is really fighting their war and why," stated Pat Thetic of the band Anti-Flag who met with Representatives Jim McDermott, Jan Schakowsky, Shelley Berkley, Nita Lowey, Hilda Solis and Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi yesterday. It was obvious why the right-wing leadership is trying to kill rumors of the draft. But we know the reality, there already is a draft going on in America and kids are already being forced into the military.
Write Congress and ask them to end The Poverty Draft, The Backdoor Draft, and The Education Draft! And than ask them where they are going to get the bodies to fight their war.
-- The Poverty Draft: 45 million Americans are without healthcare...and being drafted to fight their wars is not the answer.
-- The Backdoor Draft: Thousands of our nation's reserves our being forced to serve longer than they ever signed up for and put their family in major hardships...and being drafted to fight their wars is not the answer.
-- The Education Draft: Education costs have risen 29 percent in the last three years, No Child Left Behind has not been fully funded and Pell Grant funding has forced kids to not be able to go to college.... being drafted to fight their wars is not the answer.
Punkvoter will not let this issue go away because a few members in Congress are trying to ignore the facts. It does not take a mathematician to realize which kids are dying for their war and will need to be replaced -- since we have no exit strategy and no other countries are getting involved. Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y is responsible for the draft bill in Congress.
Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., and Rep. Pete Stark, D-Calif voted to reinstated the draft.
Also there is a Senate bill by Democrat Ernest Hollings that would also like to reinstate the draft.
These men are warmongers of the worst kind and point should be made that the draft should be reinstated. Pete Stark is up for reelection in the Bay Area and a point should be made that we don't support warmongering here in the Bay Area.

One must understand that those who call themselves "citizen soldiers" yet willingly serve the crimes of an unelected and unmandated public administration defined by it acts are in fact mere traitors to the precepts of the nation and to the rule of law, internationally, domestically, and in accordance with the rules of war...
Their mandate as citizen soldiers does not, anywhere, condone their arbitrary and wholly unfounded criminal murder of tens of thousands, and maiming of hundreds of thousands, in the the interests of an unelected, unmandated, and entirely criminal single interest enterprise whos activitites have been publicly stated to be illegal by none other than the highest leadership of The United Nations in accordance with universally accepted definitions of the term.
They are not in fact citizen soldiers at all, they are mere mercenaries for hire that do not care whether their activities are warranted by a civilian mandate or not. Do not care if there is a basis in law for their aggression or not.

Unfortunately, the majority of todays "citizen soldiers", if they are anything like the citizen soldiers of the era of our genocide against the innocent Vietnamese, are too uneducated, too socially ignorant, and too culturally illiterate to think rationally for themselves.
They prove this by being willing victims in a macabre charade staged in the interests of a few corporate interests instead of truly shouldering the burden of "defense of the Republic" by ascertaining the fact that their orders are in fact invalidated by criminal intent.
The proof of my statement is made even more plain and evident by the facts of their proven to be criminal aggression against innocent civilians, so do not trouble yourselves to attempt to castigate my person for calling those completely odious individuals by their true name.

Citizen Soldiers serve the Republic. Mercenaries serve themselves for a paycheck.
As for Stark, dig the dirt, smear the man with the truth of his iniquities, and publicly castigate the warmongerer for what he is and represents at all times.
Give no rest or respite. In his face all day every day 24-7.
Or, just go on pretending that, ultimately, it is not you the citizen that is responsible for public policy.
Nader makes good points as well. 60 million nonvoters now have a valid and balanced weapon in their hands with which to smite the oppressor directly.
