Dozens of heavily-armed Massachussets State Police watch over peace march.

Armed police and military troops were visible on rooftops throughout downtown Boston during the march.

The Boston Police Department assured the public in the mainstream press that police in riot gear would be kept away from protestors during the Democratic Nation Convention. But they never said that Massachusetts State Police would not be armed to the teeth, wearing riot gear, and packing guns that can shoot up to 6 rounds of pepper balls per second.
