CAL: SF: nude dance performances:

"Night Marsh", Eric Kupers' culmination of the UNDRESSED Project,
returns to San Francisco.

A vibrant ecosystem of naked bodies,
challenging cultural notions about
body, image, beauty and death.

June 25 and 26,
July 2 and 3,
July 9 and 10.
Fridays and Saturdays, 8pm
$10 - 15
Jon Sims Center for the Arts, San Francisco
1519 Mission St. (415) 554-0402

NIGHT MARSH contains full nudity.
For mature audiences. No one under 18 admitted without a parent/guardian.

Kupers directs a cast of 15 dancers, diverse in size, shape,
color, age, orientation and physical ability,
in an intricately choreographed journey through a world of naked bodies.

Beginning with an investigation of our culture's attitudes towards body diversity and nudity,
the piece then looks deeper at fears of the body as it is,
and their relationship to fears of death and dying.

NIGHT MARSH is performed completely naked, using nudity as a
tool for uncovering the often forgotten place of humans in the
wide spectrum of animals and the natural world.

JULY 2004:
.......

USA summer: July-August-September (overview): Bush needs average voters, especially those who depend on television for news, to be distracted from Iraq-related issues until after the November election. Republicans stage debate on same-sex marriage in U.S. Senate, and possibly in the House of Representatives. Democratic national convention happens at Boston, late July. After the Dem-Con, TV viewers will turn to the Athens Olympics; and many will disengage from national life until after Labor Day. In early September, seeking to profit from the 9-11 anniversary, Republicans will gather in New York City to coronate George the Lesser; and to find out whether Cheney will continue as Veep candidate.

CAL: SF: 4 July, Sunday: Nude Freedom Day, at Baker Beach. CLOTHING-OPTIONAL. Free.
You're invited to bodypaint and get bodypainted, for freedom, equal rights, and peace on Nude Freedom Day, July 4, at Baker Beach, San Francisco. Free. Adults of all genders and orientations are welcome.
Directions: Take #29 Muni bus to Baker Beach (either of two stops; ask driver); or bike there; or walk from Geary Blvd. and 25th Ave. Walk to northern parking lot, which has water fountain & toilets. From parking lot, walk north on beach (toward Golden Gate Bridge), thru prude zone and into nude zone. Then visually follow the cable fence (separating usable beach from protected vegetation) until you see a Leather Pride Flag (bearing a red heart, with stripes of black, blue, and white). If you don't see the flag yet, just enjoy the beach on your own. Look again for flag, or bodypainters, hourly, especially near the log stairway.
Time?: Since the organizer must carry supplies on the bus, no reliable time can be guaranteed. We'll try to be there by 3PM, possibly earlier. Rain cancels. For last-minute changes, please visit

CAL: July 4: SF, Cable 29: "Outlook" [queer news], first Sunday, 5pm.
.........

USA: July 12:
U.S. Senate begins debate on a so-called "Federal Marriage Amendment", which would ban same-sex marriages, etc. Bigots would need 2/3 majority (67 votes) to pass a constitutional amendment through the Senate.
Republican leaders don't expect to get 67, but they do hope anti-queer debate will distract voters' attention from Iraq.
For details, please see June report in SF Chronicle:
House may also stage a debate, and a test vote.
