eco-folks from across the west coast will gather in the Biscuit burn area, site of the largest timber sale in modern history to revel and issue in another summer of resistance! The EF! rendezvous is the biggest radical environmental gathering in of the year in the NW. Field Surveys @ Major New Healthy Forest Initiative Sale June 18-20
Southwest of Wickiup Reservoir and east of Odell Lake, Five Buttes Interface is the first "Healthy Forest Restoration Act" timber sale on the Deschutes and is in the Crescent Ranger District. With 7,110 acres of planned commercial logging (in a 160,000 acre planning area), there's quite a bit of ground to cover. Logging is proposed in Northern spotted owl habitat, Late-successional Reserves, riparian areas, and Wild and Scenic River corridors; this one looks like trouble...
WATTACK Weekend @ Straw Devil Timber Sale Will take place June 18-20th in the Willamette National Forest an hour and a half from Eugene.
We will be doing alot of hikes and orienting to the places that are occupied by the womyn and trans action. There will be more chances to learn basic climbing as well as more advanced skills. There will be discussions, games, role plays, and circus practice. Food is provided. Please be prepared for possible rain. This is the first in a series of monthly weekend gatherings, if you have workshop ideas, skills or activities to share, or ideas of other things you would like to see at these weekends please contact us!
