News sources for Oregon marry-ins

by SaveFreedom (SaveFreedom [at] yahoogroups.com)
Can Oregon's marry-ins last indefinitely? To get latest news on "gay marriage" there, visit Just Out (queer weekly) and The Oregonian (mainstream daily).
What's different about Oregon's marry-ins, as contrasted with San Francisco's? Apparently the Oregon state constitution contains an unusually strong guarantee of equal rights for all -- stronger than comparable wording in the California state constitution.
Therefor most legal experts (NOT merely those who favor queer rights) expect that the Oregon Supreme Court will eventually forbid discrimination against same-sex couples who apply for marriage licenses. If so, then maybe no court will stop liberal counties from issuing "gay marriage" licenses in the meantime (as two counties have already decided to do). So the Oregon marry-ins might last indefinitely, instead of being halted after 29 days.

A search for the keyword "same-sex", in The Oregonian's website, drew a blank. Though the term "same-sex marriage" is used in San Francisco papers, the Oregonian prefers the term "gay marriage".

So, for frequent updates on the on-going Oregon marry-ins (in two counties, so far), please make daily visits to:

For weekly reports (each Friday?), please visit Portland's queer paper:

You might also try "Basic Rights Oregon", and the ACLU of Oregon.

And please attend the peace march on March 20 in SF.
