San Francisco led the state in opposition to Prop 22 in March 2000, by voting 68% No on Prop 22 (the anti-gay marriage initiative) and every elected official in San Francisco including all superior court judges is at least "neutral" on gay rights if not openly supportive as it is not possible to be elected from San Francisco to any local, state or federal office and be anti-gay. That is why we see this delay in decision-making, with one date being March 29 for the next hearing. It would be wonderful if one of these judges tossed Prop 22 as being unconstitutional in that it denies equal protection. If not, I hope the City appeals as far as it can go.
Whatever happens, I hope everyone votes either Red (Peace & Freedom) or Green as both parties have always supported gay rights, including gay marriage, and unlike the Democrats, do not have any representatives who oppose gay rights and do not use gay rights as a political football, which is all Newsom is doing. Obviously, this issue is much larger than the mental midget that Newsom is and we all must support gay marriage as a right, even if we despise marriage as an institution. Please also vote Yes on 56 and No on the other state propositions, No on G, H and J and Measure 2 on the San Francisco ballot and yes on the other San Francisco propositions.
