Still waiting, on Day Six of SF Marry-In
Same-sex couples still wait outside SF City Hall, early on Day Six of the Marry-In, hoping to wed before fascists can stop them.
San Francisco, 17 Feb., Tuesday morning, 0915 AM:
Outside San Francisco City Hall, the waiting line of would-be queer spouses has shrunk to half a city block. Each couple hopes they'll be able to marry just in time, hours or minutes before fascists can suppress their newfound freedom.
The weekend's festive well-wishers have vanished, along with Muslim denouncers. Across the street, in Civic Center Plaza, encamped media persons wait to record the end of SF's Marry-In.
Rain falls softly, foreshadowing the tears of those whose turn won't come.
