Survival Trumps Marriage for Local Queer Youth

Opponents and advocates of gay and lesbian marriage have been mobilizing in the past weeks, following the Massachusetts Supreme Court ruling that only marriage, not civil union, would satisfy its initial decision. While all mainstream attention continues to focus on the issue of gay marriage, a recent report issued in Washington, D.C. puts day-to-day survival as the number one priority for youth of color who are transgender, bisexual, lesbian, gay, or queer.
