Since October, Women's International League for Peace and Freedom has sponsored a Listening Project, asking the public 3 questions-
What do you think, feel about the events of September 11th and the US government's response?
How could we "defuse" terrorism?
How could we create a safer, better world for our children, all children?
With colorful banners, tables laden with information, books, cookies and rolls, chairs, the event has stirred public dialogue on the issues raised by the events of September 11th and the US government's "War on Terrorism."
In January, we also organized a march on Feinstein's office, and a march on Eshoo's office to demand a Congressional Inquiry of 9-11. A large number of questions were raised, which we believe deserve public scrutiny.
A provocative banner saying- REAL TERRORISTS- Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld...
Guilty of 9-11... evoked warnings from the local police about the illegality of displaying banners from trees and light fixtures- only once in over 6 months of demonstrations. We will try to display this banner again- to evoke our first amendment rights. Physical and moral support would be most welcome.
