SFLR raid - call to action

by DJ Rubble
local, public political pressure had no effect on thuggish FCC actions!
Despite a serious local PR blitz since SFLR received notice of "illegal broadcasting" from FCC, a raid took place this week, pulling us off air, stripping all our material resources

Along with sypathetic articles from corporate and non-corporate media, the local Board of Supervisors passed a resolution urging the FCC not to raid and local police and firefighters not to participate.

Despite this, the FCC did raid and SFPD was reportedly a part of this. So local political pressure ALONE has no effect on either this Federal buracracy or our own police department (I suspect they have political reasons to defer to a federal agency rather than the local supes.

This is obviously and underside to both the sweeping media deregulation just being put into effect, as well as the aggressive attempts to shut down avenues of dissenting information to the occupation of Iraq, wars on terrrorism, and homeland securities.

I believe this shows that "pirates" need to keep taking the airwaves but getting on air en masse in a multitude of ways, to strip this bureacracy of its resources and "legitimacy" - continue "cat and mouse" games and the like; at least until a long, laborious legal victory changes things.

...to chill trend of other cities from possibly taking similar action.

Do I have proof? No.

But think about this. The station was raided after the vote of support from the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

The Mayor of Santa Cruz received unusual direct FDA inspection of a food facility she owned and that shop was burglarized as well, with computer equipment targeted, following Santa Cruz voting to become the very first city calling for Impeachment of George the Lesser.

And remember Ambassador Joseph Wilson's wife, the CIA operative, getting outed in the press by the Whitehouse, in retaliation for Joseph Wilson going public in the New York Times against BushCo lies?

Well, guess what the Justice Department did recently? They put out an unusual demand for reporters to reveal sources regarding the high profile Wen Ho Lee spy case, which conveniently sends the message to journalists that they better watch their ass if they think they can protect sources (leakers / whistle blowers -- who also get the chilling message to not talk to the press).

These are all different examples of the same game. This is a common tactic of government operatives.

Who says "Fascism" is too harsh a word to describe what's going on in this country nowadays?

How about some concrete suggestions as to what people can do. Certainly more "civil disobedience" insofar as getting SFLR back on the air. Has a fund been set up to replace all the stuff stolen by the Feds and the SFPD? Have maybe two or three sites been considered for erecting new transmitters? Has a date at least been set for a strategy session where interested parties (us) could come and throw out some ideas?

Let's get started.
