Gwen Araujo Anniversary

October 4, 2003, was the first anniversary of the brutal death of Gwen Araujo.

Gwen Araujo was a 17-year-old transgendered woman who was murdered after four young men discovered that Araujo's genitals did not match their expectations. According to the press kit for the documentary film by Michelle Prevost, "They demanded to
know if she was a man or a woman. How could she explain about herself in terms they would understand? She replied 'Isn't it obvious?' "
