uh, "get in your cars" and reclaim the streets? that seems to be antithetical to the whole point of reclaim the streets, which is a movement to, among other things, take back the streets from cars, corporations and capitalism and make them a place for people to join together in community, etc. etc. (see reclaimthestreets.net, http://rts.gn.apc.org/, and http://www.xinet.com/rts).

not that i think this parade action is a bad thing. i'm all for roving dance parties that make protest, or direct action, fun. and i do not want to see shwartzeneger (sp?) as governor - the man is a misogynist and racist and absolutely disgusting. but i do see the reclaim the streets movement, if it can be called that, internationally being much more radical than "getting out the vote" and encouraging "civic participation". at its essence it's about direct action: taking back the streets, taking direct action to make our lives better. and again, with a much more radical vision of social change than just being politcally active.

because the government is not in charge. The corporations are in charge. The government ain't nothing but a front. And we fell for it.

We're still trying to gore the cape, while the matador is stabbing us in the back.

Get over it.

Give up? Never ever ever! The corporate right counts on your cynicism and thrives on your apathy. Stand up and fight for yourself and your community! It's ALWAYS better to do something than nothing.

so you don't care if one of the most blatantly misogynist, racist, right wing fuckheads is awarded w/ being elected governor? i don't know if you're voting or not (i got the sense that you're not), but i think it's incredibly offensive to women and to people targetted by racism (although, who knows? you could be one of the above) that you wouldn't hold your nose and go vote just to prevent schwarzenegger from becoming governor. and to vote no on prop. 54 as well.

we're not going to get major social change by voting. but i think we need to use every tool available to us to fight the right wing attacks on us (and on the earth.)
It is never better to do the wrong thing, than to do nothing.
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
