The first pictures of the guys kneeling was taken right after they were taken off the plane- the gloves and earmuffs were because the planes are cold inside and to muffle the loud sounds- the goggles were to limit their vision till they got in the camp, the kneeling was the position they put them in to make them less dangerous before they were ungoggled, masked, etc and sent to their cells. They were like this one time for a short while- big deal- they don't do this to them all the time-

The reason they are restrained in the plane is because the majority of these guys were vicious troublemakers who would practically chew their way thru their bonds- literally- to get to the pilot, etc.

They are treated decently in their cells- well fed- kept clean- what's the huge problem???????

Why aren't you mentioning the horrible things these guys did to the people of Afghanistan?????

American military officials acknowledged yesterday that two prisoners captured in Afghanistan in December had been killed while under interrogation at Bagram air base north of Kabul – reviving concerns that the US is resorting to torture in its treatment of Taliban fighters and suspected al-Qa'ida operatives.

A spokesman for the air base confirmed that the official cause of death of the two men was "homicide", contradicting earlier accounts that one had died of a heart attack and the other from a pulmonary embolism.

The men's death certificates, made public earlier this week, showed that one captive, known only as Dilawar, 22, from the Khost region, died from "blunt force injuries to lower extremities complicating coronary artery disease" while another captive, Mullah Habibullah, 30, suffered from blood clot in the lung that was exacerbated by a "blunt force injury".

Claire..

Detaining these "enemy combatants" is all about control. It is standard practice to deprive individuals you wish to "deprogram" of basic human senses:
Sight, hearing, speech.. if you notice their mouths are also covered.
This is textbook practice for tearing an individual down to extract information and discerning behavior.
