Washington Post coverage . . .
At least this is on the covers of the online versions of WP and NYT - apparently coverage on TV is pretty dismal.

9 Protesters Arrested at Lantos' Office
by Wyatt Buchanan
Police arrested nine anti-war protesters at Rep. Tom Lantos' office in San Mateo after they entered the building Thursday afternoon and refused to leave.
The protesters wanted Lantos to sign a pledge saying he would vote against a pre-emptive military strike on Iraq and work with the United Nations to prevent any action against the Arab nation.
-Although the protesters had pledged to shut down the nation's capital, there were only minimal disruptions to the morning rush
-About 500 protesters were arrested
-About 65 people were charged with rioting after they broke some windows at a Citibank office and tossed smoke bombs in Washington's business district. Elsewhere, about 200 demonstrators arrested inside the White House's security zone, according to Chief Charles Ramsey.
-At one downtown intersection, protesters chained themselves together. Elsewhere, demonstrators danced through the street with mud and leaves smeared on their hair and clothes. Fire trucks were called to put out a few tires set ablaze on the outskirts of town.
-Many emergency calls to 911 proved false. "It's another protester tactic," Officer Tony O'Leary, a police spokesman, said of the calls. "It's something we're prepared for."
Oh yeah, the rest of the USA is just standing in line hoping to get into your good graces. You're the smart ones. We all want to be like you and do what you think we should do.
-Said Andrew Pearson, 25, of Chapel Hill, N.C., "I wish more of our movement concentrated on its message than its tactics, like running through the streets."
Sorry Andrew. This isn't about wanting peace. This is about a miniscule minority wanting to ignore what's best for the country and the world as a whole, and it's about people who would rather have things their way.
d.c. cops and others did a wonderful job slamming masked pussarchists to the ground.
a few pics of those being arrested crying were particularly sweet.
great job d.c. cops and others.
So this was a HUGE victory!
I'm swelling with pride over our excellent young people who had the incredible courage to take on the monster, in its very heart!

Right there you show how much you know - nothing. No single source can make a claim about 'most of the employees' unless they've done a huge survey, of which you have not.
Lots of employees were excited to have the day off, paid or not.
Right there you show how much you know - nothing. No single source can make a claim about how 'lots of the employees' felt about having the day off or even if it was 'lots' of employees (it could have just been 'some' or 'few' or 'bunches' or etc) unless they've done a huge survey, of which you have not.
The entire AFL-CIO told workers to 'take the day off.'
I doubt they went home crying about that.
