Arise..., a monthly conscious hip hop spoken word/poetry night, happens every third Friday in the east bay. Thanks to all those who came out last month to make our premier show such an amazing experience. The Long Haul was packed and we were overwhelmed by the energy of the crowd and the number of people who got up on the open mic and busted some deep, funny, and at times mind boggling spoken word pieces and those who didn't even get a turn due to us not being ready for it. Overall, the show was a complete success and overflowed with positive energy and excitement about the beginning of an important venue for conscious, underground hip hop in the east bay.

ÒThe role of the revolutionary is to make revolution irresistable.Ó

Arise... was created with a do-it-yourself attitude due to the noticeable shortage of venues for conscious, independent hip hop in the East Bay area. It's a space for everyone who's into hip hop as a revolutionary minded culture to come make it their own. Show up early to sign up and drop some knowledge on the open mic.

Arise... benefits RACE (Revolutionary Anti-Authoritarians of Color for Equality), a newly forming group in the bay area for anti-authoritarian activist/organizers of color.
