Another Mattole Forest Defense Update
4th day of logging, more people needed to save 3000 acres of old growth forests
Today marks the 4th consecutive day of logging in the Mattole Free State, 3000 acres of old growth douglas fir forest. Yesterday, after lockdowns delayed police and loggers, Pacific Lumber/MAXXAM fallers cut extensive amounts of trees in 5 or 6 logging units despite active disruption by activists in the woods. There is an unconfirmed possibility that unapproved units were illegally cut. Today police were able to slip past lockdowns early in the day and are currently on en route to Long Ridge, where forest defenders have maintained a protest camp since November. Activists have issued an emergency international call for convergence. An action training camp is being organized for May 18 - 24, location TBA. More people are needed in the woods and blocking roads as soon as possible. Be self-sufficient. No dogs.
